LGC Traffic Management has been recognised nationally for its commitment to protecting roadworkers, winning the Workplace Road Safety Award at the 2026 Australian Road Safety Awards.
The award recognises LGC’s leadership in implementing Forsite Connected Safety, becoming the first traffic management company in Western Australia to deploy the AI-powered predictive safety technology across its operations.
Roadworkers are among Australia’s most vulnerable road users, working just metres from live traffic to keep roads safe and communities moving. While traditional traffic management controls remain essential, they cannot always anticipate unpredictable vehicle movements or driver behaviour.
To further strengthen worker protection, LGC partnered with Forsite Safety to introduce Forsite Connected Safety across its worksites. Developed by Acusensus, the wearable technology uses artificial intelligence to analyse approaching vehicle speeds, trajectories and movement patterns up to 240 metres from a worksite. It identifies potential collision risks before they reach workers, providing an additional layer of protection when every second counts.
When a potential threat is detected, workers receive immediate vibration, visual and audible alerts through wearable devices, giving them valuable extra seconds to move out of harm’s way.
The system also provides LGC’s Operations team with real-time visibility of worksite activity through a cloud-based dashboard, capturing alerts, vehicle behaviour and safety trends. These insights enable proactive monitoring, more informed safety decisions and continuous improvement across future projects.
LGC Traffic Management Director Max Line said the award reflects the company’s long-term commitment to improving roadworker safety through innovation and its vision to help lead the industry forward.
“Every day, our crews work in high-risk environments alongside live traffic to keep our communities moving safely. While traditional traffic management practices are critical, we recognised there was an opportunity to provide our people with an additional layer of protection through emerging technology.”
“Becoming the first traffic management company in Western Australia to implement Forsite Connected Safety was an important milestone for LGC, but more importantly, it was an investment in our people. Winning this national award reinforces our commitment to continually improving how we protect our workforce.”
“From day one, our vision has been to raise the standard of safety; not just within LGC, but across the traffic management industry. We want to lead by example, demonstrating how innovation and technology can improve safety outcomes and encouraging broader adoption of initiatives that better protect roadworkers.”
Shaun Miller, Head of Division, Forsite Connected Safety, said LGC’s commitment to innovation was helping raise the bar for roadworker safety.
“LGC has shown real leadership by moving beyond talking about roadworker safety and investing in practical protection for crews working alongside live traffic every day. This award is well-deserved recognition of the team’s willingness to adopt new technology, learn from the data and help raise the standard across the broader traffic management industry.”
“Forsite was built around a simple idea: every worker connected, every worker protected. Seeing that come to life with a partner like LGC is exactly why we do this work.”
Since implementing the technology, LGC has observed improved driver behaviour through work zones, increased confidence among crews working in live traffic environments, and greater visibility of worksite risks through real-time reporting and predictive insights.
As Western Australia’s largest traffic management provider, LGC remains committed to investing in smarter technologies, embracing innovation and leading initiatives that improve safety outcomes for its people, its clients and every road user travelling through a worksite.
